Ultrasound

We offer in house ultrasound of the abdomen to evaluate internal organs. This can help us diagnose your pet’s medical condition without the trauma of surgery. We also refer more extensive ultrasounds and echocardiograms to Montana Vet Specialists in Helena.

Radiology:

Radiographs (or x-rays) are a wonderful diagnostic tool for orthopedic trauma or disease, as well as some soft tissue problems. Gallatin Vet has invested in Computed Radiology (CR). CR is similar to digital radiology in that we end up with a digital image, instead of film. This allows us to change the exposure of the image and see different structures without having to take multiple images. CR decreases the amount of radiation your pet will be exposed to in the long run, since we take far fewer images with it, while increasing the diagnostic value of the radiographs. Galltin Vet also prides itself on excellent radiographic technique. Our technicians are trained to get the correct image every time, preventing our clients from having to retake radiographs if they are referred somewhere else.
The radiograph on the left shows a fractured femur in a dog, and the radiograph on the right shows a rock stuck in the intestinal tract of a dog.

Dental Radiology:

Dental radiographs allow us to care for teeth appropriately. Instead of relying on the old wisdom of “it looks healthy,” we can actually see if the root of a tooth is healthy or compromised. In many cases, the outward appearance of the tooth is not the best indication of whether or not a tooth is healthy. Dental radiographs allow us to save teeth previously thought to be compromised, or remove a tooth if it is too compromised to save. For more information, refer to our Dental Services page.
